For Wyalusing freshman Kasey DeVoir her freshman year couldn't have gone much better.
For three sports DeVoir found herself on varsity. And, for all three sports she found herself as a starter for the Rams.
"I thought this year went really well," she said. "I tried the best I could and I am glad it worked out this way."
Now, DeVoir has earned an honor for her efforts, being named the first ever The Daily & Sunday Review All-Region newcomer of the year.
DeVoir never imagined that as a freshman she would be a starter in soccer, basketball and softball.
"I definitely wasn't expecting it," she said. "It was great when I got the chance."
The one sport she was really shocked by was coming out and excelling in soccer at the start of her freshman year.
"I wasn't expecting to do that in soccer at all," DeVoir said.
And, in the winter DeVoir found herself as the lone freshman starter on a veteran Wyalusing girls' basketball team that won the NTL East.
"I was really surprised that I was the only freshman to start," she said. "I loved my teammates, they made things so much better."
Being the only freshman put a little extra pressure on DeVoir, but she feels like she had help dealing with that.
"I did feel pressure, but my teammates helped me a lot."
One teammate in particular that made this year more special, and a little easier to deal with, is Kasey's twin sister Ally DeVoir.
"I have always had her and she has helped me through it all," Kasey DeVoir said. And, when Kasey wasn't sure what to expect during soccer season she leaned on her sister who excels in the sport.
"She really helped me a lot with that," Kasey said.
After having a strong freshman year, DeVoir knows things will be different next year. Her senior teammates will be gone and now people will look towards her a little more and there will be a little added pressure.
"I'm not going to worry about the pressure, I'm just going to play my game," DeVoir said. "It's going to be different, but I'm excited for it."
