2013 Wyalusing vs. Northeast Bradford SoftballIn another epic match between Wyalusing and Northeast Bradford it was a freshman that decided it.

In the bottom of the seventh, Erin Canfield hit a two out single with the bases loaded to bring in teammate Ally DeVoir for the winning run, giving Wyalusing a 2-1 win over the Panthers in NTL East softball action Wednesday.

"She was very poised," Wyalusing coach Jack Loomis said. "She just battled."

Canfield fouled off several pitches in the at bat before the hit.

"Just an outstanding at bat," Loomis added. "Her being a freshman she really came through for us."

That hit wouldn't have happened, though, if it wasn't for the defensive play of Mackenzie Martin in right field.

In the top of the first Martin robbed Northeast Bradford's Calla Johnson of a home run by making the catch before going over the fence.

"It was remarkable," described Loomis. "The kid is a very good communicator out there and she's not afraid to chase things down and she just locked in and got it. It was one of the best catches I've seen honestly."

The Rams struck first, scoring in the bottom of the third as an Arielle Kneller double brought in Katie Epler. Northeast Bradford responded as an Angelia Laudermilch double brought in Monica Brown to knot things up.

DeVoir went 2-for-4 to lead the Rams while Kasey DeVoir, Kneller, Canfield, Emily Faulkner and Maddy Eberlin also had hits.
