Athens tops Williamson; Galeton picks up two wins.

ATHENS - Two big innings by Athens pushed them to a 10-0 win over Williamson in five innings in NTL cross-over softball action Friday.
After a scoreless first inning the Wildcats rattled off six runs in the second thanks to home runs from Jensen Dunkling and Miranda Peterson.
They added four more runs in the third to make it 10-0.
The game was played in high winds that made even the most routine pop ups difficult to judge.
Peterson was 2-for-2 with 4-RBI and two runs while Haley Priester (2-for-3), Christin Dunkling (2-for-3) and Rica Dimon (2-for-2) also had multiple hit games.
Priester's included two doubles, an RBI and a run scored while Dimon had an RBI and crossed home once.
Mackenzie Hafer, Jensen Dunkling, Katelyn Serfass, Morgan Westbrook, Searah Kennedy and Sarah Munn had one hit each. Hafer added an RBI while Serfass, Westbrook and Kennedy all crossed home.
Kassandra Winters scores the win, striking out two while walking three in the shutout.
Jamie Cook was 2-for-3 with a double for the Warriors while Sierra Magnotta and Kim Daugherty also had hits.
Sarah Bates scored the loss for Williamson. She struck out three while allowing three walks, 14 hits and seven earned runs.
All the other games around the area were postponed due to the threat of severe weather.
Galeton 8, Port Allegany 4
Galeton scores five runs in bottom of sixth to earn an 8-4 comeback victory over Port Allegany
The Galeton Lady Tigers scored eight runs in the final four innings to defeat the Port Allegany Gators 8-4 on April 17. The come-from-behind victory was the Lady Tigers second straight as they defeated the Austin Panthers 10-6 on April 16, after tallying nine runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Down 3-0 in the home half of the third inning, Galeton (3-1) scored their first run of the game as freshman Katelynn McInroy scurried home on a passed ball. The Lady Tigers tallied a solo run in the fourth, when sophomore Kaitlyn Akers (1-for-2, 2 runs) crossed home plate on a wild pitch. Galeton tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth when freshman Katie McConaghay (2 runs and 1 stolen base), who was serving as a courtesy runner for catcher Ashely Cizek (1-3, 2B, 1 RBI) scored on sophomore Karissa Burrous' RBI single.
The Lady Tigers added five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Akers started the inning off with a single and then stole second. Akers then scored the game-winning run on a RBI single by junior Mataya McPherson (1-for-2, 2 SBs).
After stealing second base McPherson moved to third on an excellent bunt by senior Alisha Shaw. McPherson and McConaghey then crossed the plate on a double by junior Latascia Shadle (2-for-3, 2 RBI).
Port Allegany (2-2) tallied a run in the seventh.
McPherson (3-1) scattered nine hits and four earned runs. She struck out eight batters and walked none in her second complete game of the season.
Offensively, Galeton banged out 10 hits and drew seven walks.
Galeton 10, Austin 6
The Galeton Lady Tigers scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally past Austin 10-6 in a North Tier League game on April 16.
Akers (2-for-4, 1 RBI) started the Lady Tigers (2-1, 2-1 NTL) comeback in the top of the seventh with an infield single. Sophomore Kassi Brown (1-for-5, 1 2B, 1 R and 2 RBIs) then reached base on a fielder's choice. With one out, McPherson (3-for-4, 1 R and 1 RBI) singled and freshmen Kelly Murray walked to load the bases.
Following a couple of Austin miscues, the Lady Tigers cut the deficit to 6-4. Sophomore Karissa Burrous (1-for-3, 1 R and2 RBI) then knotted the game up with a two-run single. Burrous stole third, after advancing to second on the outfielders throw home, and scored the game-winning run on an RBI single by junior Shaleigh Proctor (1-for-2, 1 RBI). The Lady Tigers, who sent 14 batters to the plate in the inning, tacked on three more runs later in the seventh.
McPherson (2-1) came in relief of Cizek (4 IP, 2 H, 3 BB and 3 SO) in the bottom of the fifth inning to earn the victory.
Galeton managed 10 hits and drew six walks while Austin banged out eight hits.
