Towanda's Alaina Wickwire and Loyalsock's Kayla Gee were locked in a pitcher's dual all day on Thursday.

Both pitchers limited their opponent to just four hits, but an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth inning allowed Loyalsock to escape with a 1-0 victory in nine innings on Thursday.

Amanda Danecker reached on an error for Loyalsock, advanced on a sacrifice and a passed ball and scored on a single by Kendall Watkins to help the Lancers get the victory.

Wickwire walked none, allowed the four hits and struck out two in 8 1/3 innings for the Black Knights.

Loyalsock's freshman Gee was dominant in the win, also allowing four hits and no walks, and striking out 14.

"It was a great ballgame, both pitchers threw very well," Towanda coach Bryan Fuller said. "You couldn't ask for anything more. The girls played their hearts out. We just couldn't put a run across the board.

"It's nice to get one win in districts this year and we came close in the second run, we just couldn't get the hit when we needed to get the hit."

Alaina and Koryn Wickwire, Sam Schoonover and Laci Manning all had hits for Towanda in the loss.
