WAVERLY, N.Y. - Samantha Mennig held Edison to just three hits as Waverly beat the IAC powerhouse 4-0 in softball action Monday.
"Waverly played a phenomenal game both offensively and defensively," Waverly coach Jackie Robinson said.
Mennig struck out five while walking two in the effort.
Waverly scored two in the third to go up then added one each in the fifth and sixth.
Megan Wilbur (2-for-2) and Shailei Kraft (2-for-3) led Waverly at the plate with Kraft adding an RBI.
Rebecca Morgan, Morgan Salsman, Mennig, Sabrina Bowman, Kiana Manuel and Reylyn Schwartzhoff also had hits.
Morgan, Salsman, Bowman and Schwartzhoff scored the runs while Mennig and Bowman also had RBI.
ATHENS - Chelsie Souto held Athens to 4-hits as Northeast Bradford picked up a win over the Wildcats in NTL East softball action Monday.
Maddy Johnson went 5-for-5 to lead the Panthers with two runs and an RBI while MaKaylah Holbert went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and 2-RBI.
Calla Johnson went 2-for-5 with two runs and 3-RBI.
Bridget Haverly, Monica Brown and Souto also had hits with Brown adding an RBI. Angelia Laudermilch also scored a run.
Kaitlyn Testen had two hits for Athens while Mackenzie Hafer and Jensen Dunkling had one hit each.
Kassandra Winters scored the loss, striking out one.
Olivia May pitched a perfect game as the Crusaders picked up an IAC win Monday.
May had 11 strikeouts as she didn't allow a Newfield baserunner through the seven innings.
At the plate May was 1-for-4 with a home run, 3-RBI and two runs scored.
Brooke Smith went 3-for-4 for Notre Dame with two runs and 4-RBI while Mackenzie Maloney went 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and run scored. Claire Spaulding also had a multiple hit game, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Brooke Harvey, Allie Raupers, Morgan Cox and Alaina Steadman also had hits. Steadman scored twice with 3-RBI while Raupers, Cox and Harvey also crossed home.
Monica Jersak added a run scored and an RBI.
Notre Dame will host Candor today.
A 3-run third inning propelled the Warriors to an NTL West softball win Monday.
Felicia Diefenderfer and Kellsy Ross had home runs for Canton, with it being Diefenderfer's first career homer. Ross also had a single with 2-RBI.
Chelsey Heatley, Makenzey Route and Emily Jennings had hits with Route's a double. Heatley, Route and Lacy Castle all scored while Route had an RBI.
Ross started and went five innings for the win. She struck out six while allowing one walk and four hits. Heatley finished up, sriking out one.
Calyne Pino led Liberty with two singles while Maddie York had a double. Rachael Strange added a hit.
York scores the loss, allowing six hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
Canton travels to Williamson today.
The Trojans used a 6-run second inning to pick up an NTL East softball win Monday.
Faith Ceely had two hits and three runs scored to lead Troy while Kayla Stephani, Taylor Murray, Jessica Fritsch and Kara Schucker also had hits.
Kelsey Bristol scored twice while Stephani, Murray, Schucker and Sarah Hunsicker also crossed home.
Bethany Manley got the win for Troy, going four innings to strike out four while allowing two walks and three hits. Taylor Johnston pitched the final inning, striking out one.
Kaitlyn Tappan, Maria Servedio and Anna Hitchcock had Sayre's three hits. Kristyn Tappan scored the loss, striking out three while allowing eight walks.
Troy is at Athens Wednesday.
Sam Wood pitched a no hitter for the Tigers as they picked up an IAC softball win Monday.
Wood struck out 12 while allowing no walks but hit two batters.
She was also strong at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI.
Kate Stubbs, Dani Barto, Britt Vergason and Bry Godfrey also had hits. Barto scored twice while Vergason scored once and added 2-RBI. Godfrey and Donnette Hutchison also drove in runs.
Hannah Lawrence scored the loss for SVE, striking out eight while allowing six hits and three walks.
Tioga travels to Odessa-Montour today for a make-up.
The Green Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second but Williamson cut it to 2-1 in the bottom of the third. The Hornets added two more in the top of the sixth to secure the win.
Maggie Smith scored the victory for Wellsboro, striking out nine while allowing two walks and four hits. Peyton Wilson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored for the Hornets. Jenny Young, Brooke Kohler and Jordan Butters also had hits.
Alexa Singer, Young and Smith scored for Wellsboro.
Kim Daugherty had a double with an RBI for the Warriors while Sierra Magnotta went 3-for-3. Daugherty is credited with the loss.
The Griffins picked up their first win over Neumann in three years in Heartland Conferece softball action Monday.
Sullivan jumped out early, scoring two runs in the first two innings. Neumann cut it to 5-2 in the third but Sullivan added three more in the fourth to secure the win.
