ATHENS - Alaina Wickwire threw a no-hitter as the Towanda Black Knights beat the Wildcats 6-0 in NTL East softball action on Thursday.
Wickwire struck out seven and walked just one in the victory.
Offensively Wickwire had two hits and two RBI for Towanda and Mackenzie Roof had two hits and scored a pair of runs in the victory.
Koryn Wickwire had a double and an RBI, while scoring two runs, and Emily Gorman had a double, a run scored and two RBI for Towanda.
Sarah Dawsey had a hit and a run scored for the Black Knights.
Katelin Serfass pitched for Athens, striking out eight and walking two and she allowed seven hits in the game.
It was a scoreless game into the fifth inning when Towanda exploded for four runs. They added two runs in the seventh.
Sarah Dawsey started things out in the fifth with a one-out single and Koryn
Wickwire had a two-out RBI double to give Towanda the lead. Roof singled, moving Wickwire to third and Wickwire advanced to home on the throw.
Gorman doubled home Roof and Alaina Wickwire singled home Gorman to cap the big inning for Towanda.
The Black Knights host Liberty today.
SAYRE - Emily Faulkner threw a two-hitter to help lead the Rams to an NTL East win on Thursday.
Faulkner allowed two unearned runs on the two hits and struck out nine, while walking one.
At the plate Kasey DeVoir had a hit and scored a run and Paighton Martin had two hits and scored two runs.
Arielle Kneller had two hits, with a double, scored three runs and had an RBI, while Ally DeVoir had two hits, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI.
McKenzie Krewson had a hit in the game and Faulkner had a hit, a run scored and an RBI.
Mackenzie Martin scored a run and Maddy Eberlin had three hits and scored a run for the Rams.
Kristyn Tappan pitched for Sayre, striking out one and walking four, while allowing 12 hits in the game.
Kaitlyn Tappan had a hit and scored a run, Maria Servedio had a hit and Villanti scored a run for Sayre in the game.

Coming off a tough loss at Waverly, Sam Wood had one of the best games of her career, throwing a two-hit shutout, striking out 17 and walking just one.
"I think the kids responded well all the way around in all three phases of the game after last night's loss to Waverly," Tioga coach Jim Wood said. "Sam, I was pleased, she responded well after struggling more than she has ever struggled to turn around the next day and come right back. I thought her velocity was very good today, probably the best I've seen all season.
"I thought Britt (Vergason) called a great game. Those two definitely responded reall well. Brittany definitely won the chess match from the mental aspect of it, she had the hitters off balance all day. It was probably the best complete game we played this season."
Dani Barto had two hits, with a double, five RBI and she scored a run and Kaitlyn Stubbs scored in the game.
Wood had two RBI and scored two runs, Vergason had a hit, an RBI and three runs scored and Bry Godfrey scored two runs, had a hit and an RBI.
Alexis VanDruff had an RBI and scored a run, Donette Huchison had two hits, with a double, a run scored and an RBI and Deanna Hutchison had two hits and scored two runs, while Sierra Beebe scored two runs.
Tioga is at Newfield on Monday.
McKhenna Greenwalt had two hits and Sierra Magnotta had two hits, a triple and three RBI for Williamson.
Jamie Cook had two hits, with a triple and an RBI and Kim Daugherty had two hits and two RBI.
Daugherty got the win on the mound for Williamson.
