WYALUSING - Wyalusing broke open a tie game with a 3-run fifth, followed by a 4-run sixth, to beat Canton 8-2 in NTL softball action Friday.
The Rams took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the third but a Chelsey Heatley home run in the top of the fourth knotted the game at 1-1.
That's when the Rams got their bats going, scoring a combined seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pick up the win.
Emily Faulkner was strong in the win, striking out 10 while allowing no walks, two hits and one earned run.
Ally DeVoir went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored to lead the Rams at the plate while Mackenzie Martin went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
Paighton Martin, Cierra Holland, Mackenzie Krewson and Emily Faulkner had one hit each while Paighton Martin, Maddy Eberlin, Krewson and Faulkner also scored runs.
Heatley went 2-for-3 with a home run and scored both Canton runs in the game.
She took the loss, going 4 1/3-innings with three strike outs, five hits and three earned runs. Kellsy Ross came on in relief, pitching the rest of the way.
Ross allowed three hits, three earned runs and no strikeouts.
The Tigers bounced back from their loss to Athens by picking up an IAC win Friday.
Sam Wood, Bry Godfrey and Donnette Hutchison each went 3-for-4. Wood added a triple, three runs scored and 2-RBI, Godfrey had a triple, home run, three runs scored and 3-RBI and Hutchison had a double, run scored and 3-RBI.
Dani Barto and Britt Vergason went 2-for-4 with Barto adding two runs and three stolen bases while Vergason scored twice. Alexis VanDruff, Deanna Hutchison and Lexi Swagler had one hit each. VanDruff and Hutchison each scored and brought in a run while Swagler scored.
Caitlyn Stubbs also crossed home for the Tigers.
Sam Wood picked up the win, striking out 11 while allowing no walks, two hits and no earned runs.
The Tigers start a tough week by traveling to Edison on Monday. They will play Class D power Afton and Notre Dame on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Mountaineers used two big innings to improve to 2-0 on the year in nonleague softball action Friday.
Tied at 1-1 Liberty scored five runs in the second and four in the third to take a 10-2 lead. They added one run in the fourth and fifth to secure the win.
Madison York was 2-for-4 with a double and 5-RBI to lead Liberty while Madi Wise was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.
Mariah Berguson, Kristina Buchanan, Katie Carrigan and Brittany Crumb had two hits each.
Berguson, Buchanan and Carrigan also had 1-RBI a piece.
York got the win.
Maria Morgan led Bucktail going 2-for-3 with home run, double and 2-RBI.
The Mountaineers start NTL West play Monday when they travel to Wellsboro.
