Towanda rolls past Blue Ridge.

2014 Towanda vs. Blue Ridge SoftballWYSOX - Towanda pounded out 17 hits in their 15-0 win over Blue Ridge in four innings in non-league softball action Saturday.

In the circle Black Knight pitcher Alaina Wickwire was nearly perfect, striking out eight while allowing no hits or walks. The only Blue Ridge base runner was a hit batsman.

Emily Gorman led the Knights at the plate, going 3-for-3 with 4-RBI while Sam Peachey was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and 4-RBI.

Koryn Wickwire went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and 3-RBI, Alaina Wickwire was 2-for-2 wiht a double and a run scored and Mackenzie Roof was 2-for-2 with three runs scored.

Also for Towanda Laci Manning went 1-for-2 with two runs, Sarah Dawsey was 1-for-2 with a run scored, Jayde Parsons was 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, Bella Bartholomew was 1-for-1 with a run scored, Sarah Maryott was 1-for-1 with a run scored and Sam Schoonover was 1-for-3.

Elk Lake 5, Athens 3

The Wildcat's seventh inning rally came up short in their non-league softball loss Saturday.

Elk Lake took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third, then made it 4-0 with two more runs in the fifth.

Athens got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth as Rica Dimon singled then stole second and third. As teammate Miranda Peterson was caught stealing second Dimon used that to steal home and cut the deficit to 4-1.

In the top of the seventh Elk Lake added another run to make it 5-1.

Athens would go down fighting, though, as Haley Priester led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. She would reach second on a steal then go to third on a pass ball.

Kaitlyn Testen followed with a walk then stole second.

Mackenzie Hafer knocked in Priester on a ground out to first to make it 5-2. Mackenzie Warner then walked to put runners on the corners.

Aubrey Allen then grounded out to the second baseman to score Testen and move Warner over to second.

Elk Lake then got out of the inning and won the game when Jensen Dunkling struck out swinging.

Hafer (2-for-4), Peterson (2-for-3) and Reagan Lynch (2-for-3) had multiple hits for Athens while Warner, Dimon, Priester and Testen also had hits.

In the circle Allen earned the loss, going the distance to strike out two while allowing five hits, four walks and one earned run.

Whitney Tyler was the winning pitcher with four striekouts, three walks, 10 hits and three earned runs.
