WAVERLY, N.Y. - Kiana Manuel hit a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the fifth inning as Waverly defeated Notre Dame 4-1 in IAC softball action on Tuesday.
Waverly led 1-0 in the top of the fifth when Notre Dame's Alaina Steadman scored on a Mackenzie Mahajan triple to tie the game.
The Wolverines answered right back in the bottom half of the inning when Manuel hit a solo home run and Waverly tacked on two runs in the sixth to seal the win.
Sam Mennig tossed a three-hitter for Waverly, striking out eight and walking one, while allowing one run.
Manuel had a double and a home run, a run scored and two RBI in the game. Reylyn Schwartzhoff had an RBI and Shailei Kraft had a triple, an RBI and a run scored.
Becca Morgan had a hit and scored a run and Megan Wilbur had two hits, while Zoe Mennig had a hit and scored a run.
Alivia Clark struck out five and allowed seven hits. She walked one and allowed four runs, three earned, for Notre Dame.
Mahajan had a triple and an RBI for Notre Dame and Steadman had a hit and scored a run, while Morgan Cox added a hit.
Notre Dame is at Tioga today, while Waverly is at Spencer Van-Etten.
Maggie Smith hit a two-run home run and Alexa Singer threw a two-hit shutout to lead Wellsboro to the victory.
Singer struck out two and walked none in the game, while Smith broke open a 1-0 game with a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Sarah Ingerick, Singer, Brooke Kohler and Peyton Wilson all added hits for Wellsboro in the game.
Paige Carr had an RBI for Wellsboro and Kohler scored two runs for Wellsboro.
Smith and Singer scored on Smith's home run and Darci Warriner also scored in the game for the Green Hornets.
Chelsie Souto allowed five hits for NEB, striking out 12 and walking seven.
Annie Williams had a double for the Panthers and Bridget Haverly added a hit.
Wellsboro hosts Wyalusing today.
The Griffins got two runs from Emily McMahon in the loss on Tuesday.
Alexis Kiess and Mackenzie Doyle each pitched for the Griffins, striking out one each.
