In a back and forth contest Sayre held on to beat Canton 11-7 in eight innings during NTL Small School softball action Friday.
The Redskins went up first with four runs in the top of the third.
Canton chipped away at the lead with three runs in the fifth, then two more in the sixth to take a 5-4 advantage.
Sayre retook the lead with two runs in the top of the seventh but Canton sent the game into extra play with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
The Redskins came out on fire in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs to go up 11-6.
The Warriors got one back in the bottom half of the inning but ultimately came up short.
Kate Cron went 2-for-6 with a home run, double, two runs scored and 3-RBI to lead the Redskin attack while Kassandra Winters was 5-for-6 with a run scored.
Paige Wampole went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs and 2-RBI, Sydney Post was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI while Caitlin Garrity (2-for-5), Kaitlynn McCarter (2-for-5) and Dominique Woodruff (2-for-5) all had multiple hit games.
Alexa Babcock had a hit as well.
Lindsey Willis scored twice while Garrity and McCarter also crossed home. McCarter, Hannah Hitchcock and Woodruff each had an RBI as well.
McCarter started and went 6 2/3-innings with five strikeouts, two hits, three walks and one earned run.
Winters came on in relief and got the win, allowing two hits, three earned runs and four walks.
Evelyn Katona went 2-for-4 with 2-RBI and a run scored to lead the Warriors while Abby Herman had a double with 2-RBI and a run scored.
Vanessa Wesneski also had a hit with an RBI.
Kelsey Griffin scored twice while Kayla Ward, Maggy Machmer and Lauryn Watkins all crossed home. Lacey Castle added an RBI.
In the circle Ward got the start and went 4 1/2-innings with five strikeouts, 10 hits and four earned runs.
Griffin came on in relief and went three innings with eight hits and four earned runs to take the loss.
Sidney Wheeler pitched the final 2/3-inning.
