Troy starts season strong with win over NEB.

2015 Troy vs. Northeast Bradford SoftballLERAYSVILLE - Troy pounded out nine hits as they beat Northeast Bradford 14-3 in five innings for an NTL softball win Monday.

Kelsey Bristol (2-for-2) led the way with a triple and three runs while Faith Ceely (2-for-3) had two runs and an RBI.

Brooke Mattocks, Taylor Johnston, Taylor Murray, Kerrigan Hoffman and Jessica Fritsch also had hits.

Johnston and Murray had 2-RBI each while Fritsch also knocked in a run.

Mattocks scored three times while Johnston and Hoffman both scored twice. Murray and Jerilyn Ross also crossed home.

Hoffman got the win in the circle, striking out two while allowing four walks.

Annie Williams and Danielle Moore both had doubles for the Panthers while Maddy Johnson and Julia Williams also had hits.

Annie Williams, Megan Brown and Jaycee Brown each had an RBI while Johnson, Taya Howell and Moore all scored.

Annie Williams started and earns the loss, going 2 2/3-innings with three walks and an strikeout.

Gabby Slater finished up, striking out three with no walks.

NEB is at Liberty Wednesday.

Wyalusing 13, Sayre 2, 5 innings

Four different Ram hitters had multiple hits as Wyalusing opened up their season with an NTL softball win Monday.

Kate Epler (2-for-4), Kylie Ward (2-for-3), Kasey DeVoir (2-for-4) and Erin Canfield (2-for-4) all had multiple hit games for the Rams.

Epler added three runs and a steal, Ward had a double, triple, 3-RBI and a run scored, DeVoir had 3-RBI with a steal and Canfield knocked in a run.

Ally DeVoir, Paighton Martin, Kristie Epler and Taylor Schum also had hits.

DeVoir scored three times, Epler twice with Martin and Schum also crossing home. DeVoir, Epler and Schum each had an RBI as well.

In the circle Ward started and got the win, striking out two with four walks in three innings of work.

Kate Epler came on in relief and struck out four with three walks.

For Sayre Kassandra Winters had a hit while she and Kate Cron scored the two runs.

Winters took the loss, striking out one with three walks.

Wyalusing will face Canton Wednesday.

Athens 8, Cowanesque Valley 3

Hannah Reid and Rica Dimon both went 2-for-4 to lead the Wildcats to an NTL softball win Monday.

It was 1-1 after the first inning with Athens taking a 2-1 lead in the third.

Then in the top of the fourth they added two more runs to go up 4-1.

Both teams had runs in the fifth to make it 5-2 but the Wildcats shut the door with a 3-run sixth inning.

Kaitlyn Testen, Sarah Munn, Makenzie Warner and Reagan Lynch also had hits for Athens.

Jensen Dunkling scored twice while Testen, Aubrey Allen, Dimon, Warner and Lynch also crossed home. Allen added an RBI.

Dunkling scored the win, striking out four while allowing three walks.

For CV Kayla Schauer was 1-for-2 with a double and run scored while Madison Lee and Madeline Heyler also had hits.

Becky Plummer and Taylor Hager scored runs.

Maddy Hatch took the loss, striking out five while allowing five walks.

Wellsboro 11, Canton 6

The Hornets built an early lead and hung on late as they picked up the NTL softball win Monday.

They led 9-0 after the third but Canton fought back, cutting it to 9-3 after the fourth.

The two teams went back and forth through the later innings but Wellsboro proved too far ahead.

Jordan Butters went 1-for-4 with a home run, run scored and 2-RBI while Kaitlyn Sawyer went 2-for-3 to lead the Hornets.

Alexa Singer added a double with two runs scored while Sarah Ingerick, Peyton Wilson, Jenny Young, Paige CarrBaylea Lehman and Darci Warriner also had hits.

Ingerick scored three times, Singer did twice while Wilson, Young, Lehman, Lauren Bleggi and Alyssa Yungwirth also crossed home.

Wilson and Lehman each knocked in two runs while Ingerick and Warriner both had an RBI.

Singer started and earned the win, striking out six while allowing 11 hits, five earned runs and one walk.

Kayla Ward started for Canton and earns the loss after going the first three innings. Kelsy Griffin finished out the last four.

Ward had three hits to lead the Warriors.

St. John Neumann 21, Sullivan County 12

In the season opener for both it was the Griffins coming up short.

Kassandra Houseknecht, Torie Shultz, Alexis Kiess and Noelle Henniger had two runs each for Sullivan while Henniger added 2-RBI. Shultz had an RBI as well.

Kiess took the loss on the mound.
