e Pennsylvania All-State softball teams are out and the lists are full of NTL athletes.

It was a magical year for the Notre Dame softball team as they brought home the state title.

Both were three-sport athletes. Both made All-Region teams in multiple events. One plays in New York, one in Pennsylvania. Both are this year's The Daily & Sunday Review Newcomers of the Year.

The Wellsboro Green Hornets won the NTL, Division I title and reached the District 4 Class AA title game, and two of their players received big honors from the NTL coaches.

TURBOTVILLE — There are tough losses and then there is what happened to Wellsboro.

Wellsboro used a late rally to beat Loyalsock 2-1 to reach the District IV, Class AA final Tuesday.

Wellsboro and Northeast Bradford both defeated an NTL foe behind good pitching performances to advance to the district semi-finals in their respective classes. The Hornets won over the Rams while the Panthers topped Williamson.

CANTON -- The Warriors hit three home runs on their way to an 11-1 win over Montgomery in the first round of the District 4, Class A softball playoffs.

SAYRE — Of 23 students from 13 school districts, only two are chosen as the female and male NTL Athletes of the Year.

The Athens Wildcats wrapped up the NTL Division I title on Saturday with a 9-7 win over Troy.

The baseball and softball District IV playoff brackets are out and two local teams have top seeds.

Williamson used a big sixth inning to beat Galeton 10-4 in non-league softball action Friday.

Savannah Doney threw a five-hit shutout to lead Liberty to a 3-0 win over Athens on Thursday.

ATHENS — The Wildcats scored three times in the fifth inning to break open a 1-1 tie in a 4-1 win over Sayre.

A furious seventh-inning comeback by Wellsboro gave them a 4-3 NTL win and ended Northeast Bradford's undefeated season.
