Canton softball blanks WellsboroThe Canton Warriors bounced back from their first loss of the season with a big win on Wednesday, topping Wellsboro 3-0.

Evelyn Katona threw a four-hit shutout, striking out six and walking just one.

Katona had two hits, with a double, a run scored and two RBIs and Hannah Gilliland had two hits, with a double and an RBI in the win.

Hailey Wesneski and Brooke Ward each scored a run for Canton.

In the first Wesneski scored on a Katona double and Gilliland drove in Katona. In the third a Katona hit drove in Ward.

Alyssa Yungwirth struck out 10 and allowed four hits and one walk in the loss.

Brianne Keane had two hits and Tiana Lecker and Kailee Clymer had hits in the loss.

Canton is at NEB on Monday.

NEB 10, Troy 4

The Panthers scored six runs in the fourth inning to break the game open on Wednesday.

Gabby Slater had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI and Taya Howell had three hits, with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored.

McKenna Wheaton had two hits and two RBI and Katie Boardman had two hits, a run scored and two RBIs.

Annie Williams had a double, an RBI and three runs scored and Jaycee Brown had a hit, while Lindsay Moore, Megan Brown and Jenna Saxe all scored runs.

Williams struck out one in three innings and Slater struck out five in four innings.

Troy got three hits from Vanessa Watson, with a double, and a run scored and Gabby Cory had three hits and an RBI.

Riley McClellan had a double and scored a run and Erika Johnston had two hits, with an RBI.

Roxanne Kingsley had a hit and scored a run and Caitlyn Hoffmann scored a run, while Brianna Rathbun had an RBI.

Watson struck out one in 3 2/3 innings and Hoffmann pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief.

Williamson 14, Towanda 13, 8 innings

After a 10-10 game in regulation, Towanda scored three runs in the top of the eighth, before Williamson answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

Brianna Padgett had two doubles and an RBI and Emma Durst had a hit, while Kendra Colegrove had three hits, with a double, and an RBI, scoring three runs. Padgett scored two runs and Durst scored a run.

Makayla Butz had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored and Emylee Yusko had three hits, five RBI and three runs scored, with a double.

Kylee Butz had a hit and two RBIs and Micaiah Welch had three hits and three RBIs.

Lindsey Colegrove had a hit and scored a run.

Towanda got two hits, with a double, four RBI and two runs scored from Justine Vargason and Madi Doss had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Sydney Schoonover had an RBI and Larisa Terry had two hits, a double, a run scored and three RBIs. Rachael Bair had two hits, with a run scored and Hannah Chandler scored a run, while Shay Chandler had a hit and scored a run.

Cearra McLinko had two hits and scored three runs and Emily Dunn scored a run, while Gabby Larcom had two hits and scored two runs.

Notre Dame 17, Candor 1

Courteney Crater led the Notre Dame squad with three runs, a single, a double, a triple and four RBIs to their 17-1 victory over Candor on Wednesday.

Maura Glovins contributed three runs, two hits, two stolen bases and a walk for Notre Dame, Paige Harvey scored two runs and had one walk, Makenzie Mahajan scored three runs, a single, a double, two RBIs and one walk, Mackenzie Maloney finished with two runs, two doubles, four RBIs and one walk, Isabel Milazzo added one RBI, a double and one walk, Ally Witchtowski had one hit and one walk, Jordyn Fargo had one run on one walk, and Chloe Stemerman had two runs and a double.

Milazzo started the game and pitched three innings, striking out seven and allowing no runs. Tiyah Mooffe relieved her for the remaining two innings, striking out two and allowing one run on two hits.

Tioga 14, Spencer Van Etten 0

Maddy Dydynski struck out 16 batters in seven scoreless, two-hit, innings in her first varsity start to lead Tioga to their 14-0 victory over SVE on Wednesday.

Sarah Hollenbeck led off for Tioga and had one hit, one run and one RBI, Megan Godfrey had two hits, two runs and two RBIs, Marissa Howe finished with three hits and three runs, Mariah Culver had one walk, one run and one hit, Sara Strong added three hits, one run, two walks and one RBI, Kurstan Martin had three hits, one run, one walk and two RBIs, Dydynski finished with one hit, one run and one RBI, Justice Pahlman had two runs and two hits and Abby Lyons had one hit.

Wyalusing 3, Sayre 1

Wyalusing defeated Sayre 3-1 in local NTL softball action on Wednesday.

Kyleigh Ward had a double and a run on offense and threw seven innings with six strikeouts, one walk and six hits for the Rams. Kristie Epler had one hit and one run, Melody Kneller added one hit and one run, Emily Champluvier had two hits, Taylor Schum had one hit and Haley Hemmerly hit the game go-ahead double in the sixth inning.

For Sayre, Domi Woodruff had a double, a triple and a run, Kate Cron, Kaitlynn McCarter, Sydney Post and Emily Moore each had one hit. McCarter pitched for Sayre, striking out two batters.

Athens 7, CV 5, 9 innings

The Wildcats trailed 5-2 entering the seventh inning, and scored three in the seventh and two in the ninth to get the win.

In the seventh Emma Adams and Reagan Lynch singled and Aubrey Allen hit a double and there was an error, allowing all three runners to score.

In the ninth Lynch, Allen and Kendra Brown all singled. One run scored on a passed ball and with two outs Haley Barry hit a suicide squeeze that led to another run scoring.

Lynch was 4-for-4 with four runs scored and Allen had two hits, two RBIs, two runs scored and a double.

Brown had three hits and Adams had a hit and scored a run.

Mimi Martin, Leah Reid and Taylor Jenney all had hits.

Adams struck out four on the mound in the win.

Ashleigh Southard struck out 14 for CV and Karmen Short had two hits and scored two runs.

Karmen Short had three hits, an RBI and two runs scored for CV and Brynn Williams had two hits, two RBI and a run scored, while Hayley Murphy had two hits.

Amaya Walker had a hit and scored a run and Madi Lee had a hit. Julia Draper had a double and Jenna Romaneo scored a run.
