Wendi Hammond struck out 11 as she threw a rare 7-inning perfect game in Waverly's 12-0 win over Newark Valley in IAC softball action Friday.
She only needed 86 pitches in the effort.
Hammond was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored while Shailei Kraft was 3-for-3 with a triple, four runs and 2-RBI.
Riley Hall was 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and 3-RBI with Zoe Mennig hitting a double, scoring a run and knocking in three.
Paige Miller and Kennedy Wheeler also had hits with Miller scoring twice while Katie Goodwin also crossed home. Sydney Meyers added an RBI.
ELMIRA HEIGHTS, N.Y. — In a match-up of the top two ranked teams in New York state's Class C it was the Crusaders winning in a rout behind a 16-hit performance.
Earlier this week Notre Dame won by a run but this time they scored in every inning but two.
Mackenzie Mahajan led the way, going 4-for-4 with a double, three runs and 2-RBI while Izzy Milazzo was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
Mackenzie Maloney went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and 3-RBI, Ally Wichtowski was 3-for-5 with two doubles and 2-RBI.
Maura Glovins, Jordyn Fargo, Megan Niles and Taylor VanDine also had hits. Glovins and Peyton Maloney both scored twice while Fargo and VanDine also crossed home.
Courteney Crater and Fargo each had an RBI.
Milazzo struck out five in the win while allowing seven hits, one walk and three earned runs on 96 pitches.
The Rams pounded out 14 hits as they picked up the NTL softball win Friday.
Athens led 2-1 after the first inning but Wyalusing tied it up in the second then added two more in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.
They had six in the top of the seventh to pull away.
Sarah Bird was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI for Wyalusing while Trinity Kipp went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs. Kristie Epler was 2-for-4 while Melody Kneller went 2-for-3.
Miranda Herbert had a home run to go with 3-RBI as Kyleigh Ward, Maddie Valoroso and Taylor Schum also had hits.
Valoroso scored twice with Ward also crossing home. Ward, Valoroso and Schum all knocked in a run as well.
Autumn Dietz got the win for the Rams, striking out five while allowing two walks and six hits.
Reagan Lynch had the big bat for the Lady Wildcats, going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Mimi Martin had a home run while Aubrey Allen and Lauren Galasso also had hits.
Meg Bennett scored the loss, striking out two while allowing no walks.
Athens will get another chance at Wyalusing soon as they travel down there on Monday.
Cathryn Brought led the Hornets to an NTL softball win Friday.
Brought was 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and 3-RBI at the plate while getting the win in the circle with six strikeouts, three hits, one walk and one earned run.
Ryann Adams (2-for-3) and Sydney Tremper (2-for-4) also had multiple hits in the game. Adams scored twice and had 2-RBI while Tremper scored once with 2-RBI.
Kailee Clymer had a double with two runs and 2-RBI while Alyssa Yungwirth, Brianne Keane, Rileigh Gerges and Tiana Lecker also had hits.
Yungwirth scored three times while Tremper, Keane, Hailey Neal, Gerges and Lecker also crossed home. Gerges also knocked in a run.
Karmen Short had a double with a run scored for CV while Julia Draper was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Emma McClaren also had a hit.
Draper scored the loss in the circle, striking out four while allowing 12 hits and six walks.
The Mountaineers had 18 hits in their NTL win Friday.
Seven different Mounties had multiples on the day: Carmen Bates (2-for-4), Brooke Harvey (2-for-6), Savanah Doney (3-for-6), Mackenzie Heater (2-for-5), Abby Heatley (2-for-5), Lauren Smith (3-for-5) and Jillian Berguson (2-for-5). Emily Strange and Liz Williams also had hits.
Heater had a home run, Heatley had a triple while Bates and Doney had doubles.
Doney and Smith scored three times, Bates, Harvey and Williams each scored once while Heater, Sara Swingle, Heatley, Strange and Berguson also crossed home.
Doney and Heater both had 3-RBI, Bates, Harvey and Heatley had 2-RBI each while Strange, Smith and Berguson had one run batted in a piece.
Doney got the win, striking out eight while allowing three hits and one walk on 80 pitches.
Dominque Woodruff had a double for Sayre while Alia Post was 2-for-3.
Kaitlynn McCarter struck out one in the loss while allowing two walks, 18 hits and 17 runs, seven of them earned, on 114 pitches.
Makaya Shadle had a big day as the Tigers picked up the North Tier softball win.
Shadle went 4-for-4 with a home run in the victory.
