WELLSBORO — Sayre played tough but Wellsboro ultimately pulled out the 6-0 win in NTL softball action Monday.
There was no score after three and a half innings when, in the bottom of the fourth, Brianne Keane scored on a pass ball to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead.
Wellsboro got a second run in the fifth when Emma Rachiele scored on a Sydney Tremper double to make it 2-0.
The Hornets broke it open in the bottom of the sixth with four runs keyed by three Redskin errors.
Tremper and Cathryn Brought both went 2-for-4 to lead the Hornets while Alyssa Yungwirth had a triple. Keane, Hailey Neal, Rileigh Gerges and Kailee Clymer also had hits.
Keane, Ryann Adams, Neal, Gerges, Tiana Lecker and Rachiele all scored.
Brought allowed just two hits in the win, striking out six for the shutout.
For Sayre, Kate Cron and Kaitlyn McCarter had the two hits. McCarter struck out four in the loss while allowing two walks and nine hits.
North Penn-Liberty 6, Benton 0
Savannah Doney threw her first career no-hitter as she struck 15 to lead the Mountaineers to a non-league softball win.
Brooke Harvey, Lauren Smith and Jill Berguson each had a triple for NP-Liberty while Doney had a double with 2-RBIs.
Bates and Mariah Kshir also had hits.
Smith knocked in two runs while Bates had an RBI as well.
Notre Dame 18, Odessa-Montour 2
Courteney Crater had a home run as the Crusaders stayed unbeaten on the season in IAC softball action Monday.
Crater was 3-for-4 with a home run, 2-RBI and four runs scored, while Isabel Milazzo was 2-for-4 with a triple and 2-RBI.
Maura Glovins was 3-for-5 with two runs, Mackenzie Mahajan was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Mackenzie Maloney was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Peyton Maloney was 1-for-2 with two runs and Hannah Mahon was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Chloe Stemerman knocked in two runs while Ana Milazzo scored three times. Ally Wichtwoski scored twice while Jordyn Fargo also crossed home.
Isabel Milazzo started and went four innings for the win, striking out three while allowing one hit and one walk on 72 pitches.
Tiyah Moffe finished out, striking out two while allowing one hit, two walks and two runs — one of which was earned — on 41 pitches.
Edison 11, Tioga 0
The Tigers fell in IAC softball action Monday.
Tioga was held to just four hits: Sarah Hollenbeck, Mariah Culver, Sara Strong and Maddie Dydynski.
Culer struck out 10 in the loss while allowing five walks and 17 hits.
Bella Wilsey got the shutout for Edison, striking out 11.
Jodie Burdick, Laura Tryon and Leigha Jones each had three hits a piece to lead the Spartans.
