Wellsboro downs Athens 12-1ATHENS — Wellsboro continued their strong NTL play with a 12-1 win in six innings over Athens in softball action Wednesday.

Sydney Tremper went 3-for-4 with a double, 2-RBI and a run scored to lead the Hornets while Alyssa Yungwirth (2-for-3) and Heidi Zuchowski (2-for-2) also had multiple hits. Yungwirth had a double with a run scored while Zuchowski had a double, two runs and 5-RBI.

Ryann Adams, Brianne Keane and Hailey Neal also had hits. Adams scored three times, Kailee Clymer, Keane and Neal twice while Cathryn Brought also crossed home.

Keane and Neal also had an RBI each.

Yungwirth got the win, striking out six while allowing five hits and the one run.

Aubrey Allen was 2-for-3 with two doubles for Athens while Reagan Lynch had a hit with a run scored. Emma Adams and McKenzi Strobridge also had hits.

North Penn-Liberty 4, Towanda 3

The Mountaineers rallied for the NTL softball win Wednesday.

The Black Knights led 3-1 after scoring two in the top of the sixth but NP-Liberty responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull out the victory.

Lauren Smith was 1-for-3 with 2-RBI for the Mountaineers. She had the winning RBI in the sixth.

Liz Williams, Savanah Doney and Carmen Bates each had one hit while Mariah Kshir knocked in two runs.

Doney got the win, allowing six hits in the victory.

Larisa Terry and Ceara McLinko both went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Lady Knights. McLinko had 2-RBI while Terry knocked in one run.

Madi Doss and Hannah Chandler both went 1-for-3 on the day.

Emily Dunn was the losing pitcher, giving up four hits on the day.

The Mountaineers travel to Wyalusing Friday.

Wyalusing 5, Troy 2

A 3-run sixth inning propelled the Lady Rams to the NTL softball win Wednesday.

Wyalusing got on the scoreboard first with two runs in the fourth. Troy came back with a run in the bottom of the fifth but the Rams pulled away for good in the sixth.

Kyleigh Ward, Maddie Valoroso and Kristie Epler all went 2-for-4 to lead the Rams. Ward had a triple and two runs scored while Epler and Valoroso each had an RBI.

Melody Kneller added a double while Trinity Kipp, Autumn Dietz, Miranda Herbert and Taylor Schum also had hits.

Lee Ann Kipp and Samantha Wood scored while Herbert and Schum both knocked in a run.

Ward struck out two while allowing one walk, six hits and two runs, one earned, on 102 pitches in the win.

Riley McClellan had a double and run scored for Troy while Erika Johnston, Gabby Cory, Roxanne Kingsley, Caitlyn Hoffman and Madison Alexander also had hits.

Johnston scored while Alexander added an RBI.

Vanessa Watson scored the loss, striking out one while allowing 11 hits and five runs, two of them earned, on 78 pitches.

Williamson 10, Sayre 0, 5 innings

The top four of the Warrior line-up went 10-for-16 as the Warriors picked up the NTL softball win Wednesday.

Kendra Colegrove went 3-for-4 with 2-RBI and two runs scored, Emylee Yusko was 3-for-4 with three runs, Makayla Butz was 2-for-4 with a triple, run scored and 2-RBI and Emma Durst was 2-for-4 with two runs.

Kamryn Miller had a hit with an RBI, Micaiah Welch scored and knocked in a run and Sarah Learn had a hit with a run scored.

Durst went the distance for the win, striking out nine while allowing three hits, one walk and no runs.

Alia Post, Makayla Mullen and Kirsten Covey had hits for the Redskins.

Kaitlynn McCarter scored the loss. She struck out four while allowing 12 hits, one walk and 10 runs.

Notre Dame 15, Newark Valley 0

An 8-run second inning jump started the Crusaders to the IAC softball win Wednesday.

Mackenzie Maloney went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI to lead Notre Dame while Jordyn Fargo was 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI.

Izzy Milazzo (2-for-4) had two doubles and 2-RBI and Mackenzie Mahajan (2-for-4) had a triple, run scored and 2-RBI. Ally Witchtowski added a double, three runs and an RBI while Maura Glovins, Tiyah Moffe, Courteney Crater, Paige Harvey, Peyton Maloney and Hannah Mahon also had hits.

Taylor VanDine scored twice while Glovins, Peyton Maloney, Moffe and Chloe Stemerman each crossed home. Mahon knocked in two runs with Glovins, Harvey and VanDine each getting an RBI as well.

Milazzo scored the win, striking out three while allowing just four hits in the shutout on 67 pitches.

Muncy 8, Canton 3

Brooke Ward was 2-for-3 in the Warriors’ non-league softball loss Wednesday.

Evelyn Katona scored the loss for Canton.
