Wyalusing kept their District IV title hopes alive on Friday with their 11-1, five-inning win over Williamson in the Class AA semi-finals.
Kyleigh Ward started for Wyalusing, in five innings of work she allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out two.
Emma Durst started for Williamson, in four and one third innings she allowed six runs on six hits and six walks and struck out three. Emylee Yusko relieved her for one third of an inning and allowed five runs.
Melody Kneller and Miranda Herbert each had two hits and two RBI, with Herbert adding a run as well.
Ward had a double and two runs, Autumn Dietz finished with a double and an RBI, Daphne Fassett finished with a double, a run and an RBI, Kristie Epler added one hit and two runs, Sarah Bird and Trinity Kipp each had one hit and one run, Madalyn Valeroso added one hit and one RBI and Emily Champluvier scored a run.
For Williamson, Durst had one hit and one RBI, Yusko scored a run and Briana Padgett and Sarah Learn each had one hit.
“The turning point in the game was a Williamson rally in the third," Wyalusing coach John Loomis said. "When Learn got a hit, another reached on error and then it was followed by another hit. Then our catcher, Dietz picked off Durst on first base. It took the wind out of their inning. Dietz has been working hard all year, it was big for us. Ward then doubled off of the fence in the third and it turned the game around for us.”
Wyalusing will be taking on South Williamsport in the Class AA, District IV final on Wednesday, May 31 at the Mosser Complex in Warrior Run. Only one team can advance to the state tournament.
Gabby Slater pitched five innings of one-hit softball to lead NEB to their 14-0 win over Bucktail in the Class A, District IV semi-finals on Friday. Slater finished with 11 strikeouts, one hit and three walks and on offense she had two runs and three hits.
McKenna Wheaton and Taya Howell each had home runs for NEB. Wheaton finished with two runs, and three RBI and Howell had one run and three RBI.
Lindsay Moore added three runs, two hits, including a triple, and three RBI for NEB, Katie Boardman finished with three runs, three hits and one RBI, Megan Brown had two runs and two hits and Annie Williams finished with one run.
NEB advances to the Class A, District IV final against Muncy or Cowanesque Valley. They are guaranteed a spot in the state tournament.
Athens fell to Milton, 2-0, in the Class AAAA, District IV semi-finals on Friday.
Aubrey Allen pitched a complete game for Athens, allowing two runs on six hits.
Emma Adams had two hits for Athens and Morgan Fergason had a double.
Milton advances to take on the winner of Shikellamy and Shamokin on May 31.
Notre Dame's Izzy Milazzo threw a no-hitter and struck out five batters to lead Notre Dame to their 9-0 win over Bainbridge Guilford in the Class C, Section IV semi-finals on Friday.
Mackenzie Maloney led Notre Dame's offense with one run, three hits, including a double and an RBI, Maura Glovins finished with two runs, three hits and a stolen base, Mackenzie Mahajan added one run, two hits, a stolen base and three RBI, Courtney Crater had two runs, two hits and an RBI, Megan Nile added one run and one hit, Hannah Mahon finished with a double and an RBI, Ally Wichtowski had one hit and an RBI, Milazzo added one RBI, and Chloe Stemerman and Paige Harvey each scored a run.
Notre Dame now advances to the Class C, Section IV final against Union Springs today at 2 p.m. at the BAGSAI complex in Binghamton.
