Canton's Timmy Ward has been in many battles on the football field, and wrestling mat. He's been in must-win games, and huge wrestling matches.

The Sun-Gazette softball coverage area once again was heavily represented on the Pennsylavnia Association High School Softball Coaches Association 2018 All State Teams. A near-record 26 players earned all-state honors in four different classifications, including seven who earned first-team selections.

A couple of names were late additions to the All-State softball team on Wednesday.

It was a strong year on the softball field for area teams, and it shows with a number of selections to this year's PAHSSBCA All-State team.

It was a dominant year for Wyalusing freshman Hailey Jayne as she helped guide the Wyalusing rams to NTL and District 4 titles.

His career started with an award and, now Gary Raupers caps his career with another award.

It's starting to become an annual thing.

Kaeden Mann had his most dominant sports season in the Fall. Hailey Jayne had her biggest moments in the Spring.

TURBOTVILLE — Summer McNulty's solo home run Tuesday never got more than 15 or 20 feet of the ground. It was a laser which wasn't going to be caught unless someone hurdled the outfield fence first.

TURBOTVILLE — The initial swings against Warrior Run’s Madi Waltman were late. North Penn-Liberty hitters flailed at the best of her velocity for the better part of seven innings Tuesday at the Moser Complex.

TURBOTVILLE – In the District IV, Class A title game it came down to who capitalized on their opportunities because both teams had plenty of those.

MONTGOMERY — Emily Snyder ended the game, throwing a perfect pitch. She closed out Montgomery's first playoff win since 2011 by spotting a fastball on the inside corner which froze Bucktail's final hitter.

The Cowanesque Valley softball team advanced to the District 4, Class A semifinals with a 5-0 win over Galeton.

Nick Shedleski and Owen Arndt combined on a five-inning perfect game as Lewisburg opened the District 4 Class AAA baseball playoffs with a 10-0 win over CMVT.

WYSOX — It was a pitchers duel between Towanda's Gabby Slater and Kendra Loff of Bloomsburg.
