Lewisburg shuts out CMVT in D4 opener.

Nick Shedleski and Owen Arndt combined on a five-inning perfect game as Lewisburg opened the District 4 Class AAA baseball playoffs with a 10-0 win over CMVT.
Andrew Ramirez was a home run shy of the cycle as he drove in two runs and scored three more for the Green Dragons. Aaron Strosser and Dakotah Snyder each had a pair of hits and drove in a run.
In the District 4 Class A quarterfinals, St. John Neumann took an early two-run lead and had the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, but the Knights ended their third postseason berth in school history with an 8-4 loss to Cowanesque Valley. The Indians move on to the semifinals where they will face Millville on Saturday.
Neumann jumped out to leads of 2-0 and 4-3, but CV scored the game’s final five runs to earn the win.
Hailey Neal hit a go-ahead, three-run home run and Cathryn Brought threw a three-hitter as Wellsboro softball rallied past Central Columbia, winning its first round District 4 Class AAA playoff game, 5-1. The Green Hornets (12-8) overcame a 1-0, fifth-inning deficit and will play at No. 2 Loyalsock in today's quarterfinals.
Neal went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and her home run highlighted a four-run fifth inning. Brought allowed only a second-inning run and struck out four. Wellsboro delivered most of its eight hits over the last two innings and both Kailee Clymer and Heidi Zuchowski went 2 for 3 with doubles. Wellsboro added an insurance run in the fifth inning and Jena Boyce had a hit and run. The Hornets are seeking their fourth straight district semifinal appearance.
