Allen Taylor won the 110 hurdles by just over a second and picked up a win in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 1 inch, but Williamsport fell in a close one against Selinsgrove, 79-71, in boys track and field on Tuesday afternoon.
Williamsport’s Sam Penman won the javelin with a throw of 159-1, beating the second-place thrower by just over 15 feet.
Jersey Shore’s Isaac Davis and Hunter Frantz both won two events, but Jersey Shore fell to Shikellamy, 89-61. Davis won the 1,600 in 4:35 and ran a 10:11 in the 3,200. Frantz won the long jump at 19-7 and triple jump at 41-9.5
Lewisburg swept the top 3 finishes in the 400 and 800 and went on to beat Mifflinburg, 92-54. Stephen Tiffin led the 400 runners with a 1:04 finish followed by James Koconis (1:15) and Felix Hernandez (1:16). Hernandez led the 800 contingent with a 2:13.68 finish, Gianluca Perrone ran a 2:16.31 and Michael Hernandez ran 2:17.76.
In girls track and field, Selinsgrove defeated Williamsport, 112-38. Katie Penman won the 100 in a time of 12.66, beating the second-place runner by just 0.14 seconds. Williamsport’s 400 relay team also won in a time of 55.76.
Mary McMahon won the 3,200 in 12:42.72, winning by three seconds. McMahon also placed second in the 1,600 and Penman finished second in the 400 and 200.
Lewisburg swept five events as it defeated Mifflinburg, 98-51. The Green Dragons placed top three in the 100 hurdles, 200, 800, 3,200 and discus events. Liz Fessler ran a 17.63 in 100 hurdles, Chloe Michaels won the 200 in 30.05 seconds and Sarah Reif won the 800 in 2:39.36.
Kate Allred led the discus throwers with a distance of 95-5.
Jersey Shore fell to Shikellamy, 107-42, secoring two individual wins by Emma Butzler in the discus and Veronica Sander in the high jump. Butzler threw a distance of 102-9 and Sander jumped 4-10.
Abby Gerst was a second behind the leader in the 1600 in 5:45 and Aubrey Sechrist ran a 1:05.3 for second in the 400.
Sullivan County defeated Benton, 27-14, in high school softball. The Griffins scored 14 runs in the sixth inning. Individual stats were unavailable.
Hughesville defeated Bloomsburg in boys tennis, 3-2, as Ethan Burns won No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-2. Parker Voitek and Spencer Thomas won No. 1 doubles 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
