WYALUSING - It took eight innings but Towanda was able to edge Wyalusing 2-1 in NTL softball action Thursday.
In the top of the eighth Koryn Wickwire led off with a walk and would eventually reach third on an error. Emily Gorman then hit her home with a sacrifice for the winning run.
The Rams broke the scoreless tie with a run in the fifth but Towanda added one in the sixth to send it into extra innings.
Koryn Wickwire went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored to lead the Black Knights while Makenzie Roof was 2-for-3 as well. Sam Schoonover was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI while Laci Manning and Gorman also had hits.
Alaina Wickwire earned the win, going the full eight innings to strike out six while allowing two walks, seven hits and one run.
For Wyalusing Ally DeVoir and Kasey DeVoir both went 2-for-4 while Katie Epler had a triple.
Erin Canfield went 1-for-2 and scored their run while Paighton Martin was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Emily Faulkner scored the loss, striking out six while allowing three walks and seven hits.
Towanda is at Troy today.
Sam Mennig struck out 13 as she led the Wolverines past Edison in IAC Large School South softball action Thursday.
The loss is Edison's first on the season.
In the 11th Karleigh VanNess singled to lead off the inning. Becca Morgan sacrificed her over to second followed by a Morgan Salsman single scoring VanNess in what was ultimately the winning run.
Mennig then struck out the final two Spartan batters in the bottom half of the inning to shut the door. She would walk one with five hits.
VanNess and Salsman both went 2-for-4 while Reylyn Schwartzhoff also had a hit.
Mckenzie Slaven earned the loss for Edison, striking out 14 while allowing five hits and one earned run.
Dannielle Callear, Molleigh Molanoski, Slaven, Emily Thresher and Emily Lear had the hits.
CV scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to get the NTL Small School win Thursday.
The victory pulls the Indians into a tie with the Panthers atop the standings with both teams sporting five losses.
Lexi Huyler led CV, going 1-for-3 with a double, 2-RBI and a run scored while Courtney Schauer and Becky Plummer also had hits. Schauer had an RBI while also scoring a run. Shanelle Ianson, Julie Brubaker and Whitney Earl also scored runs.
Ianson earned the win, striking out six while allowing seven hits, one walk and three runs, one of which was earned.
Maddy Johnson went 3-for-4 with a run to lead the Panthers. Angelia Laudermilch, Chelsie Souto, Monica Brown and Courtney Coleman also had hits.
Brown had an RBI while Laudermilch and Coleman both scored.
Annie Williams earned the loss, striking out four while allowing three hits and one walk.
Sam Wood went 4-for-4 with a triple, three runs and 2-RBI to lead the Tigers to the IAC win Thursday.
Dani Barto was a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, three runs and an RBI while Lexi Swagler was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and 2-RBI.
Taylor Ayres was 2-for-4 with a run scored while Britt Vergason was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs.
Kaitlin Stubbs, Steph Armstrong, Sarah Hollenbeck and Rachael Graham also had hits with Graham's a triple.
Graham added 2-RBI while Hollenbeck and Victoria Swansbrough also knocked in a run each.
Stubbs, Hollenbeck and Swansbrough all scored.
Wood earned the win, striking out seven while allowing one hit and no walks.
Alexa Singer struck out 12 to lead the Hornets to the non-league softball win Thursday.
Singer allowed just three walks and three hits in the victory.
Jordan Butters went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead Wellsboro while Brooke Kohler was 2-for-4 with a double.
Peyton Wilson added a double while Paige Carr also had a hit.
The Hornets host Liberty today.
The Griffins lost in IAC softball action Thursday.
Mackenzie Doyle had a double and an RBI while Kayla Rosbach had a hit with a run scored.
Alexis Kiess started and earned the loss, walking three while Doyle came on in relief, striking out one with seven walks.
