CV edges Towanda, 2-1TOWANDA — Ashleigh Southard threw a complete game for Cowanesque Valley, allowing one run on seven hits to lead CV to their 2-1 victory over Towanda on Monday.

For CV, Brynn Williams had one run; Madison Lee finished with a hit, stolen base, an RBI and a run; Emma McClaren added a double and an RBI; and Southard finished with a stolen base.

Justine Vargason threw for Towanda, striking out six and allowing two runs on two hits.

For Towanda, Madi Doss had two hits and a stolen base; Cearra McLinko finished with one hit and a stolen base; Rachael Bair had one hit; Kaylee Fulmer had one run, a hit and a stolen base; and Hannah Chandler finished with one hit, a stolen base and an RBI.

"Our pitching is getting better, our defense is tightening up. We just need to get our bats on track and we'll be fine," Towanda coach Stan Siberski said after the game.

Wyalusing 15, Canton 0 (4 innings)

The Rams' softball team defeated Canton 15-0 in local softball action on Monday.

Melody Kneller led Wyalusing with three hits, including a grand slam, two runs and four RBI; Kristie Epler added three runs and one hit; Kylie Ward finished with two hits and three RBI; Shelby Kipp had three runs; Sarah Bird added one hit and an RBI; Trinity Kipp and Madelyn Valoroso each had one run; Daphne Fassett had one double and a run; and Hailey Hemmerly finished with two hits, three runs and an RBI.

Ward pitched for Wyalusing, striking out five batters and allowing no runs on three hits.

For Canton, Hailey Wesneski, Hannah Gilliland and Emily Ferguson each had one hit.

Wellsboro 8, Williamson 0

Alyssa Yungwirth had one run, two hits, two RBI and had seven strikeouts in five innings of scoreless work on the mound to lead Wellsboro to their 8-0 win over Williamson on Monday.

For Wellsboro, Ryann Adams finished with three hits and one run; Sydney Tremper had two hits and one run; Cathryn Brought added one run, one hit and one RBI; Brianne Keane had one run, one hit and two RBI; Hailey Neal finished with one run, one hit and one RBI; Kailee Clymer finished with one run, one hit and one stolen base; Rileigh Gerges added one run and Tiana Lecker finished with one hit.

Brought pitched the last two innings, striking out four and allowing no runs.

For Williamson, Kendra Colegrove had the team's lone hit.

Emylee Yusko pitched for Williamson, striking out six batters and allowing eight runs on 12 hits.

Notre Dame 5, Waverly 1

Izzy Milazzo threw a complete game, striking out six batters and allowing one run on six hits, and had two hits and two RBI on offense to lead Notre Dame to their 5-1 victory over Waverly on Monday.

For ND, Maura Glovins had one run and two hits; Courteney Crater finished with two runs; Mackenzie Maloney added one hit and one RBI; Chloe Stemmerman had one run; Ally Wichtowski added one run and two hits, including a double: Jordyn Fargo finished with one hit and one RBI; and Taylor VanDine finished with one hit.

Wendi Hammond pitched for Waverly. She struck out two batters and allowed five runs, one earned, on nine hits.

For Waverly, Hammond had one run and a hit; Paige Miller and Jordan Mente each had one hit; Shailei Kraft finished with one hit, two stolen bases and one RBI; and Riley Hall had two hits, including a double.

Troy 2, Sayre 1

Vanessa Watson threw a complete game, struck out 10 batters and allowed one run to lead Troy to their 2-1 win over Sayre on Monday.

For Troy, Watson, Nicole Spalding, Caitlyn Hoffman, and Autumn Gilbert each had one hit; Erika Johnston finished with one run and two hits; Gabby Cory had one run and one hit; and Roxanne Kingsley had two hits and one RBI.

Kaitlynn McCarter pitched for Sayre. She struck out five while allowing two runs on eight hits.

For Sayre, Dominique Woodruff had two hits and one RBI, and Kate Cron had a run scored.

NEB 6, NP-Liberty 5

Gabby Slater had two hits and an RBI on offense and pitched a complete game, allowing five runs on eight hits, to lead NEB to their 6-5 win over NP-Liberty on Monday.

For NEB, Megan Brown had a triple; Annie Williams finished with two hits; McKenna Wheaton had one hit and one RBI; Katie Boardman had two hits, including a triple, and one RBI; Taya Howell added two hits and two RBI; and McKenzie Haight had a double.

NPL's Savannah Doney allowed six runs on 12 hits in her complete game.

For NPL, Doney had three hits, including a double and a triple, and two RBI; Carmen Bates had two hits and one RBI; Brooke Harvey had one hit; and McKenzie Heater finished with two hits, including a double, and two RBI.

Tioga 8, Candor 3

Marissa Howe was 3-for-4 as she led the Tigers to the IAC softball win Monday.

Howe's tally included two doubles and a triple, two runs and 3-RBIs.

Megan Godfrey (2-for-4) and Sarah Hollenbeck (2-for-3) also had multiple hits on the day. Hollenbeck scored twice while Godfrey crossed home once.

Madalyn Dydynski had a double, Mariah Culver notched a triple while Stephanie Armstrong and Kurstan Martin also had hits.

Culver, Martin and Morgan Babcock all scored while Dydynski knocked in two runs. Armstrong, Culver and Martin each had an RBI as well.

Dydynski threw 127 pitches in the complete game win, striking out 15 while allowing five hits, four walks and three runs, two of them earned.

Millville 8, Sullivan County 7

The Quakers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past the Griffins.

Jessica King went 4-for-4 with a run scored an an RBI to lead Sullivan while Kassandra Houseknecht (2-for-4) and Bethany Weinhardt (2-for-4) also had multiple hits.

Houseknecht had a double, two runs and an RBI as well while Weinhardt had a run scored and knocked one in.

Quincy Fry had a double and an RBI, Alexis Randall had a double and scored a run.

Madison Burke and Tiffany Rupert also had hits.

Burke went the distance for the loss. She struck out two while allowing 12 hits, three walks and eight earned runs on 93 pitches.

Cassidy Bricker went 3-for-3 with two runs to lead Millville.
