CV beats Troy.

EAST TROY — CV jumped out early and held on late to top Troy 8-3 in NTL softball action Friday.

The Indians led 3-0 after the first inning and built an 8-1 lead heading into the seventh.

In the bottom half of the final inning Troy mounted a comeback, scoring two runs and putting runners on base but the Indians got out of it.

Julia Draper was 3-for-4 with a double, 2-RBI and two runs scored to lead CV while Ashleigh Southard (2-for-4), Karmen Short (2-for-3) and Amaya Walker (2-for-3) also had multiple hits in the game. Short's included a double with 4-RBI while Walker also knocked in a run.

Riley Ortt and Makayla Vargason also had hits. Vargason scored three times while Jenna Romaneo, Ortt and Kaylin Barton also crossed home. Ortt added an RBI as well.

Southard got the win, going the distance to strike out two while allowing six hits, one walk and three runs, two of them earned.

Roxanne Kingsley led Troy at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and an RBI while Riley McClellan, Nicole Spalding, Erika Johnston and Caitlyn Hoffman also had hits.

Johnston and Nicole McClellan both scored runs while Madison Alexander had an RBI.

Vanessa Watson started for Troy but didn't record an out as she earned the loss. She allowed two walks, one hit and three earned runs.

Hoffmann finished out the game, going seven innings to strike out three while allowing 10 hits, one walk and five runs, three of them earned.
