The Wellsboro Varsity softball team couldn't overcome a 3-run 1st inning as they fell to Towanda Tuesday night in the opening round of District IV Class AA playoffs, 5-4.
The 10th seeded Lady Black Knights took an early lead over the 7th seeded Lady Hornets, but Wellsboro would respond in the 2nd inning with 2 runs of their own. Towanda scored 2 more in the top of the 3rd to go ahead 5-2, but the Lady Hornets rallied again with 2 more runs in the bottom of the inning to bring the score to 5-4, but they left runners stranded in scoring position as Towanda held on for the win.
