A 6-run 7th inning for Northeast Bradford doomed the Wellsboro Varsity softball team Wednesday night. The loss is the Lady Hornets' second straight to non-league teams.
Northeast Bradord held a 2-0 lead going into the top of the 7th when Sophomore Baylea Lehman and Junior Maggie Smith scored to tie the game up at 2-2. In the bottom of the inning, however, Northeast's bats came alive to score 6 runs to claim the NTL cross over win.
Smith led the Hornets at the plate going 2-3 and Lehman and Freshman Alexa Singer had the other hits for the Lady Hornets on the night.
Singer started the game, going 6 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs (2 earned), 5 hits, and 3 doubles on 73 pitches in the loss. Smith came on in relief for the final 2/3 of the inning.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 7-5 (3-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Friday, May 3 as they travel to Liberty.
