The Wellsboro Middle School Baseball team swept a pair of games against Towanda and Williamson on Saturday, May 15.
The young Hornets beat Towanda 13-3 and beat Williamson in the 2nd game of the doubleheader 10-5 to improve to 8-5-1.
Against Towanda the Hornets produced 11 hits led by Marek Mascho and Lucas Cuneo. Mascho went 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs and Cuneo was 2-for-4with 3 RBIs. Will Gastrock, Ryder Bowen, and Dustin Owlett were all 1-for-2, Gabe Sprouse and Drayden McGee were both 1-for-3, and Gavyn Jelliff and Luke Rothermel were both 1-for-1 with Jelliff batting in two runs.
Against Williamson Gastrock was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs, Rothermel, Bowen and McGee were all 1-for-2 with an RBI, Mascho was 1-for-3, and Sprouse was 1-for-4.
In the softball game the young Lady Hornets dropped a pair of games to Towanda, 15-0 and 14-4.
Earlier in the week the Hornet baseball team lost a doubleheader to Athens, 10-3 and 9-0. The softball team played one game and won 14-9. Paige Logsdon hit for the cycle, going 5 for 5 with two home runs, one in the park and one out of the park.
