Northeast Bradford held on to edge the Wellsboro Varsity Softball 7-6 in their regular season finale on Saturday, May 17.
After scoring a run in the 1st and two in the 2nd to jump out to a 3-0 lead, the Lady Hornets began to claw their way back in during the middle innings. Wellsboro cut the lead down to 3-2 with runs from freshmen Teagan Novinger and Delaney Morral. Wellsboro later tied it up in the top of the 6th after Morral hit a lead-off triple and later scored.
The Lady Hornets took the lead in the top of the 7th on runs from freshmen Hannah Taylor, Adelyn Frantz and Rylee Coolidge, but NEB plated four runs in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win.
Morral finished 2-for-3 on the afternoon to lead Wellsboro while Frantz had the Lady Hornets' other hit, a lead-off single to start the game.
Novinger, Morral, Taylor and freshman Madalynn Flannery drove in Wellsboro's runs.
Frantz pitched a full game, allowing 7 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits with 8 walks and 6 strikeouts.
Wellsboro finishes the season 6-13 overall and 3-12 in the NTL Large School Division.
