Wellsboro shutout Canton 6-0 to snap a five-game losing streak on Friday afternoon behind a 16-strikeout, two-hit game from sophomore Adelyn Frantz.

Frantz didn't allow a hit until the 4th inning, then one more in the 6th, to go with just one walk on the day.

The Lady Hornets led off the game with back-to-back infield singles from freshman Haylie Smith and sophomore Rylee Coolidge. Both later scored in the inning, giving Wellsboro an early 2-0 lead. Wellsboro added two more runs in the 6th as sophomore Delaney Morral and senior Harleigh Cleveland both reached base on error and later scored. Wellsboro's final two runs came in the 7th on a home run from sophomore Teagan Novinger and another base hit from Morral.

Smith, Coolidge, Frantz, Novinger, Morral and Cleveland had the Lady Hornets' six hits in the game with Frantz and Novinger having RBIs. Coolidge and Morral also stole bases.

Cyra Hugo and Raya Preston had Canton's hits. Preston took the loss on the mound, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts.

The Lady Hornets improve to 6-8 (4-7 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Tuesday at Wyalusing.
